The totality of evidence shows that quercetin produces a statistically detectable but practically negligible effect on endurance and aerobic performance. Two high-quality meta-analyses (PMID 21606866, ES=0.15; PMID 22805526, VO2max +1.94%, endurance performance +0.74%) both explicitly classify the magnitude as trivial and conclude quercetin is unlikely to be ergogenic, including for trained athletes. The only positive RCTs were small (n=12) and conducted in untrained participants, and a 6-week double-blind RCT in trained endurance runners (PMID 24379709) found zero performance benefit despite improved antioxidant markers. NIH ODS and NCCIH state there is no clear evidence of athletic performance improvement, and both ACSM (Q4 2025 review) and ISSN (2026 position stand) decline to endorse quercetin as an effective ergogenic aid. A grade of D is warranted because the effect, while not zero, is too small to be practically meaningful and authoritative bodies consistently do not recommend it.
